A Quicker Crackleback
Hook - size 14, TMC 5262 or Dai-Riki 300
Thread - Nylon stretch Uni-Thread or Danville. White preferred or the color of your choice
Back - Brown six-strand embroidery floss, divided down to three strands
Hackle - Brown Whiting "100 Pack" saddle, pre-graded
Head - 8/0 Red Uni-Thread
Start the thread behind the hook eye and wrap back to the bend. Tie in the floss and the feather. Wrap the thread back to the eye. Repeat wrapping down and back to build the body. Half hitch the thread and remove it. Attach the red thread behind the hook eye. Coat the body with glue and then bring the floss over the body and tie off at the hook eye. Palmer the feather forward and tie off.
