Dennis Galyardt says "The Alexandra is a Christmas colored fly that I have found very effective for Brook trout and rainbows especially in lakes. It doesn't do much for browns. I have caught lots of fish with it on the White & Norfork Rivers and in Colorado & Wyoming"  Tying instructions and a history of the Alexandra may be found on Hans Weilenman's web site.
