Thread - Olive 8/0

Hackle - Furnace

Back - Peacock herl, 2 strands

Body - Pale yellow dubbing (Flyrite #41), pale yellow turkey rounds, or other materials

1.        Debarb hook. Attach thread.
2.        Tie in hackle, dull side facing you.
3.        Tie in peacock herl on top of hook shank.
4.        Dub body or wrap turkey round.
5.        Pull peacock herl over top of fly, leaving a tiny amount of slack. Tie off and trim.
6.        Palmer hackle forward in 4-6 wide wraps. Tie off and trim.
7.        Form small head with thread wraps. Whip finish and cement head if desired.

The fly is credited to Ed Story of Feather-Craft Fly Fishing in St. Louis, MO. According to Ed, "I dress the fly with floatant and fish it dead-drift as a dry fly. I can jerk the fly under the surface and 'skip' it along with the rod tip as an emerger. I can put split shot a foot above the fly and fish it on a 3 foot leader 'deep', using a sinking fly line."
