Gary Flippin's Fishing Report
December, 2011
Greetings, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Things have been pretty quite on this end of the river the past few days and will probably remain quite with the current generation pattern and cold weather forecast. Bull Shoals has been running around the clock since the last of November. The better water seems to be for a few hours of the morning and then again late in the afternoon a couple hours before dark. Once the heavy flows come in (up to 15 and 17 thousand cfs) the water trashes out and becomes very hard to fish. Some wade fishing along the edges or by boating to islands or gravel flats. Norfork has had some wadable water most days and the most waders. The dissolved oxygen threat should end soon. Midge patterns, sow bugs, scuds San Juans, egg patterns, and some soft hackles all work best during the winter months. Winter Streamer patterns on sinking lines work well in the heavy flows; clousers, White and Grey woolies. Be careful, Stay Warm, and again Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Rim Shoals
Flip at Rim.
