Links to Conservation and Environmental Organizations
The Southern Council Federation of Flyfishers represents flyfishing clubs located in Arkansas, Kansas, western Louisiana, Missouri, southeastern Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas as well as individuals who are not members of local clubs. We are affiliated with the Federation of Flyfishers (FFF), based in Livingston, Montana. The FFF is a federation of individuals and clubs throughout the United States and the world. Our motto is "conserving, restoring, educating through flyfishing". We support all species of fish in all waters. NAFF is an affiliate club of FFF.
Friends of the White and Norfork Rivers is an organization advocating and protecting the entire watershed of the White and Norfork Rivers. The Friends was largely responsible for halting gravel mining in Crooked Creeked. Many members of NAFF are also members of the Friends. This is the conservation organization for people who live in this area!
Friends of the Norfork National Fish Hatchery is an advocate organization for the fish hatchery. This hatchery produces 500,000 pounds of fish every year, most of which are released into the White and Norfork Rivers. Dry Run Creek, a trophy fishing area limited to kids 15 and under and to the handicapped, is fed by the outflow of the hatchery. The Friends has been established to insure that the hatchery continues to operate, and thrive, in the 21st century.
Trout Unlimited Arkansas White River Chapter #698 is our local chapter of TU. The mission of TU is "To conserve, protect and restore North America's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds." The Arkansas White River Chapter focuses on the preserving and enhancing the habitat for trout in the Bulls Shoals and Norfork tailwaters.
