North Fork River on endangered fisheries list

NORFORK - The North Fork River has been placed on the Federation of Fly Fishers Endangered Fisheries Initiative as an emergency situation.

The international organization put the river on its list this week.

 Representatives from the FFF said the North Fork is endangered because of sediment runoff from a housing development.

As much as 15 inches of sediment has collected at the bottom of the river and floodplain, according to the FFF.  Complete Story

ADEQ muzzled by law, procedure (9/30/2006)


About six months have passed since the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality issued an emergency order against Overlook Estates, a subdivision being built above the North Fork River, but residents continue to see runoff into the river.
