NAFF Scholarships

Every year NAFF awards $4000 in scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to students pursuing degrees in fisheries biology or other conservation related fields. There are three $1000 scholarships. These are the Earl and Verna Cox Scholarship; the Tony Spezio Scholarship; and the Dennis and Amy Galyardt Scholarship. The scholarships are funded by revenue from the Sowbug Roundup.

2010 NAFF Scholarship Winners

Stephanie Bell

Lacey Gurien

The 2010-2011 North Arkansas Fly Fishers Scholarships (NAFF) were awarded to Stephanie Bell of Cotter and Lacey Gurien of Russellville.  Stephanie, a freshman at Arkansas Tech, is pursuing a degree in Natural Resources Management. Stephanie recently completed an AGFC internship and activities with Stream Team demonstrating her intentions of becoming a wildlife officer. Lacey, a senior at Arkansas Tech is pursuing a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology and recently completed a summer research assistant position with the Arkansas Tech faculty.

Every year the NAFF awards scholarships to students pursuing degrees in fisheries biology or other conservation related fields. Three scholarships are funded by revenue from the Sowbug Roundup, the major fly tying event held annually here in Mountain Home.  These scholarships are; the Earl and Verna Cox Scholarship; the Tony Spezio Scholarship; and the Dennis and Amy Galyardt Scholarship.

This year $2,000 was awarded to each of the recipients.

Micah Tindall, of Mountain Home,is a senior majoring in Fisheries Biology at Arkansas Technical University (Russellville).

Kendra Richmond, from Viola, is a junior at University of Arkansas majoring in Environmental Studies.
