2010 Caddis Fly Swap
Emerging Sparkle Pupa
Hook: Size 12 - 18 dry fly hook
Thread: Olive, brown, or black #6 or #8 for #12 - 14 and #14 for smaller
Body: Antron color that fits the area to be fished
Head: Color of the thread or use dubbing for a darker color.
Lay a thread base on the hook, finishing wrap at hook end.
Take about 2" of 4 strands of Antron, cut in half, tie one half below the bend of the hook and half top of the bend of the hook.
Take a small part of the bottom Antron and dub to thread wrapping forward toward the eye.
Lift the upper half of the Antron and lift up and toward the eye and tie off. Do same with lower half, pull down and tie off at eye.
With 3 or 4 strands of deer hair or pheasant tail, tie in behind the eye with thread or a dark dubbing.
Clip just a pinch of Antron from the rear and pull straight back for a shuck.
A very productive emerging fly to use during Caddis activity. This has been an effective fly for me on the Beaver Tail Waters, Bull Shoals Tail Waters, and the North Fork River. I have never used it on the Norfork Tail Waters.
